Hello, my name
is Michael "doc" Crawford. About the moniker first, I was a US Navy Hospital Corpsman for 4 years.
That is a medic in laymans terms, and "doc" is the monkier given to corpsman and therefore, me as well.
I have been shooting nature and wildlife photography for 12 years, however was quickly hooked and started spending
large sums of money and time to this end. I liken it to that wonderful analogy of sailing being like standing,
fully clothed in a cold shower ripping up dollar bills. Well, nature photography is alot like sailing! Those
who venture forth to both ends, no doubt reach phenominal highs. There is nothing like coming upon a white-tail
doe moments after giving birth to 2 fawns; or of experiancing a 15 degree dawn and tens of thousands of snow geese
flying-out at the
Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge; or still of photographing a grizzly sow and her
two cubs fishing for salmon in a fall rain in Hyder, Alaska. Nature photography requires of me the time to be
in these places for these type of events to happen. It has taught me patience as well as humility. It
instills in me the idea that we all need to be better stewards of our environment. It calls me back to these
and future experiances in the wild that I hope to be able to bring to you here on this site, or into your homes
with the beauty of these images on your computer screen, in cards, or even prints. My work is available for private
use as well as publication. All images are wild animals unless otherwise noted. I do not shoot captive mammels
but occasionally birds in an aviary setting rivaling the ones at
The Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona.
